2009 was a notable year for Brookdale sales graduates on the racetrack. DANCING IN SILKS, a 2005 Keeneland November weanling sold by Brookdale, highlighted the year with a victory in the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1).

Here is a recap of some of the year’s successes:

November 22:  Brookdale Grad NAUGHTY NEW YORKER (Quiet American), a 2003 KEESEP yearling bred by Stepwise Farm, placed in the Study Hard Stakes at Aqueduct.

BROOKDALE GRAD WINS BREEDERS’ CUP SPRINT!!

November 7:  Brookdale Grad DANCING IN SILKS (Black Minnaloushe), a 2005 KEENOV weanling owned by Ken Kinakin, won the G1 $2M Breeders’ Cup Sprint.

October 10:  Brookdale Grad RUNNING BRIDE (Cherokee Run), a $120,000 KEESEP yearling owned by Summerplace Farm and bred by Swifty Farm, won her 3rd race in 3 starts in the Miss Indiana Stakes at Hoosier Park.

September 9:  Brookdale Grad DANCING IN SILKS (Black Minnaloushe), a 2005 KEENOV weanling owned by Ken Kinakin, won a clear victory in the Pirate’s Bounty Stakes at Delmar, putting his winnings at over $300,000.

August 13:  Brookdale Grad JUST BEN (Speightstown), a $230,000 KEESEP yearling owned by Lael Stables, won an impressive allowance race at Saratoga.

July 4:  Brookdale Grad CONVOCATION (Pulpit), a $150,000 KEESEP yearling purchased by Nicoma Bloodstock, ran 2nd in the GII Dwyer Stakes at Belmont Park.

June 22:  Brookdale Grad NOBLE GREY (Forestry), a $150,000 KEESEP yearling owned by Audley Farm, crossed the finish line 8 lengths ahead of her maiden special weight competitors at Colonial Downs in her first start.

June 20:  Brookdale Grad ANAAN (Medaglia d’Oro) finished 2nd in the $100,000 Lil E. Tee Handicap at Presque Isle Downs.  ANAAN was a $475,000 KEESEP yearling purchased by Shadwell Farm.

May 15:  Brookdale Grad SAM SHARP (Johannesburg), a $160,000 KEESEP yearling purchased by McKeever St. Lawrence, won in a 1 1/4 length victory at Newbury.

May 15:  Brookdale Grad IDONTBELIEVEMYEYES (Strong Hope), a $280,000 KEESEP yearling purchased by Rabbah Bloodstock, beat her maiden special weight competition by 1 1/4 lengths at Hollywood Park.

May 10:  Brookdale Grad ANAAN (Medaglia d’Oro), a $475,000 KEESEP yearling purchased by Shadwell Farm, wins in impressive fashion in allowance company at Belmont Park.

April 25:  Brookdale Sales Grad RULE THE STORM (Tribal Rule) won the $72,000 Warren’s Thoroughbreds Stakes at Hollywood Park.

April 18: Brookdale Grad SQUARE EDDIE ran a game 3rd in the G2 Coolmore Lexington Stakes.  SQUARE EDDIE won the G1 Lanes End Futurity and placed 3rd in the G1 Breeders Cup Juvenile last fall. He sold for $200,000 at the 2007 Keeneland September sale.
