With Approval captured the 1989 Canadian Triple Crown (the Queen’s Plate, Prince of Wales Stakes, and the Breeders’ Stakes) and was voted Canadian Horse of the Year and champion 3-year-old male.  Trained throughout his career by Roger Attfield, he exited racing with 13 wins from 23 starts and earnings of $2,863,540.   With Approval stood at Brookdale from 1997 to 2005 after which he stood at Kirsten Rausing’s Lanwades Stud near Newmarket, England.

From Fred Seitz:

“We are all saddened at Brookdale by the death of With Approval in England at age 24.  From 1997 to 2005 he stood at Brookdale, during which time he became part of the fabric of the farm.  He was the kind of horse one could easily become attached to; gentlemanly, kind and always willing to please.  He will be missed.”
