CRAFTY PROSPECTOR'S 4-year-old son CHIEF WHAT IT IS (dam by Housebuster) was a wire to wire 1 1/2-length winner of the 5-furlong Delta Express S. on March 2, pulling away at the start and maintaining a clear lead while setting fractions of :22.09, :45.02, and :57.99. In 2006, CHIEF WHAT IT IS won wire to wire by 3 lengths in the 6-furlong Airline S. at Louisiana Downs, setting blistering fractions of :21.59, :44.28, :56.34, and 1:10.24, following an impressive wire to wire April allowance victory at Keeneland.

He is also the sire of 8-year-old multiple SW CRAFTY SCHEMER (dam by Saratoga Six), second in the $74,400 Fire Plug S. at Laurel Park on January 20. CRAFTY SCHEMER has won 9 races, including two 2006 stakes events, and $331,816. PIES PROSPECT has won 6 races and $712,859. A $190,000 Keeneland September yearling purchase, he placed second in both the $150,000 Ben Ali S. (G3) at Keeneland and the $300,000 Gulfstream Park H. (G2) in 2005, and at 3 he was an easy 8 1/2-length winner of Calder's $100,000 Fred W. Hooper H. (G3), earning a 110 Beyer Rating in his first start against older horses, defeated highly-regarded EDDINGTON after a hard-fought stretch duel to capture the $300,000 Pegasus H. (G3) at The Meadowlands, and finished third in two additional graded stakes including the $1,000,000 Haskell Invitational H. (G1) to LION HEART, easily defeating ROCK HARD TEN.

Multiple SW CRAFTY SCHEMER captured the November 4 Dave's Friend S. at Laurel Park by an easy 6 lengths, after becoming SW #89 with a 2 1/4-length victory in the July 15 Claiming Crown Rapid Transit S., setting sizzling fractions of :21.33, :43.25, :55.50 and 1:08.74 for 6 furlongs. That same day, sophomore filly ELLIECAT (dam by Tabasco Cat) earned her first black type with a placing in the $49,000 Dixie Miss S. at Louisiana Downs.

R. ASSOCIATE returned to top form after a 5-month layoff to capture the $75,000 Budweiser Emerald H. over one mile on June 18. He earned his first graded stakes victory and became his sire's 28th graded SW in 2005 with a victory in the the $104,703 Lieutenant Governors' H. [G3], and has now won 9 races and $293,502. R. ASSOCIATE also placed in both the $98,750 Mt. Rainier Breeders' Cup H. and the $75,000 Emerald H. in 2005.

CRAFTY PROSPECTOR'S 2006 juvenile winners include TERANO FORCE ONE, 4-length winner on December 9 at Hanshin in his second career outing, SUMAC, November 6 allowance winner at Remington Park and most recently third in the $50,000 Centennial S. over one mile on the turf on November 28, also at Remington Park, and 5-length Belmont Park maiden special-weight winner TIME IS TIGHT (dam by Cox's Ridge).

With TWELVE 2005 juvenile winners (nine maiden special-weight) from his 19th crop to race, CRAFTY PROSPECTOR ranks among the leading sons of MR. PROSPECTOR by progeny earnings (more than $84 million), stakes winners (89 - 9% of named foals), stakes horses (154), and number of winners (667).

He sired 84 winners of more than $3.3 million in 2005 including stakes performers R. ASSOCIATE, KELADORA (dam by Always Fair), PROSPECTORS SPIRIT (dam by Rahy), PIES PROSPECT, HE'S CRAFTY (dam by Inverness Drive), CRAFTY PLAYER (dam by Broad Brush), and PEEKABOO CAT (dam by Storm Bird).

HIGHWAY PROSPECTOR won a 2004 allowance race by 6 1/2 lengths after finishing second in the $65,000 Longfellow H. over 6 furlongs at Monmouth Park, Philadelphia Park's $100,000 Donald Levine Memorial H. (G3), and Pimlico's $186,000 Maryland Breeders' Cup S. (G3) in 2004. He also won or placed in SEVEN 2003 stakes (5 graded), and has won 14 races and $574,577.

Crafty Prospector's first 2006 auction juvenile brought $450,000 at the Barretts Select Sale on March 14.

His 2005 sales yearlings included a $130,000 colt and fillies for $110,000 and $75,000 at Keeneland September, and an $85,000 Fasig-Tipton July filly.

His 2004 Keeneland November highlights include in-foal mares for up to $150,000, and weanlings for up to $72,000.

His 2004 sales juveniles averaged over $121,000, led by the $275,000 sales-topping colt at Barretts' May sale.

His multiple stakes-producing daughter WIN CRAFTY LADY sold for $900,000 at the 2003 Fasig-Tipton November Select sale.

His 26 sales yearlings averaged $46,288 in 2003, with individuals for $180,000, $150,000, and $130,000.

Crafty Prospector’s nine 2003 sales juveniles averaged $97,611, and a median price of $90,000, with individuals for up to $210,000. His 2002 sales yearlings averaged $61,035, with Keeneland September fillies for $300,000, $110,000 (2), etc., and Keeneland September colts for $190,000, $120,000, $110,000, $100,000, etc.
