Stopchargingmaria Adds Grade 1 Alabama

Brookdale grad Stopchargingmaria claimed the $600,000 Alabama Stakes (G1) for her second top-level win in a row at Saratoga Race Course on August 16.

Even-money choice Stopchargingmaria finished three-quarters of a length ahead of 24-1 longshot Joint Return.

It was the second straight grade I win for the filly owned by Mike Repole and trained by Todd Pletcher, and her third straight stakes score. Stopchargingmaria won the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes (gr. II) at Pimlico Race Course May 16 before taking the Coaching Club American Oaks (gr. I) July 20 at Saratoga in a five-length romp.


Stopchargingmaria Demolishes Field in CCA Oaks (G1)

Stopchargingmaria (3,f, Tale of the Cat/Exotic Bloom) captured her first Grade 1 win on Sunday in the Coaching Club American Oaks at Saratoga. Sitting just off the pace for most of the race, Stopchargingmaria pulled away in the stretch to win by 5 lengths. In just her 9th start, the filly now has 5 wins and earnings of $1,054,000.  She was bred in Kentucky by Harvey Clarke and Brookdale Farm LLC and is a graduate of the 2012 Keeneland September Sale.

Nicklaus Way 3rd in Don Bernhardt Stakes

Nicklaus Way (5,g, Bluegrass Cat/Lizzy’s Bluff) was third in the Don Bernhardt Stakes at Ellis Park on Saturday. He now has lifetime earnings of $175,531.  Nicklaus Way was bred in Kentucky by D.H. Niall and M.L. Niall and is a graduate of the 2010 Keeneland September Sale.

Brookdale Grad Duff Breaks Maiden at Presque Isle Downs

Duff (2,c, Candy Ride/To The Brim) broke his maiden on July 14th at Presque Isle Downs in just his second career start. After finishing 2nd last time out, Duff was sent off as the favorite and led the entire race to win by 3 and 1/2 lengths. Duff was bred in Pennsylvania by Two Sisters Farm and is a graduate of the 2013 Keeneland September Sale.
