Big Boy Candy (2,c, Twirling Candy/Ada Clare) put on quite a show on Sunday at Santa Anita by breaking his maiden by over 8 lengths in his career debut. Big Boy Candy was bred in Kentucky by Jack Swain and was raised at Brookdale Farm. He is a graduate of the 2015 Keeneland November Sale.
Brookdale Grad Miggsy (3,c, Hard Spun/Yes She’s A Lady) won by a nose on Sunday at Aqueduct to break is his maiden. Placed in both of his previous starts at 2, Miggsy has now earned $60,000 for owner Robert LaPenta. He was bred in Kentucky by Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Tait and was purchased for $330,000 in the Keeneland 2015 September Sale.
Brookdale Sales was the #5 consignor by gross and average price (3 or more sold) for the 2017 Keeneland January Sale. Brookdale grossed $1,369,700 for the sale with an average of $47,231 per horse. Book 1 was highlighted by the mare Yes She’s A Lady and her Bodemeister colt that sold for $210,000 and $195,000.
War Story (4, g, Northern Afleet/Belle Watling) found himself back in the winner’s circle on Saturday at Aqueduct winning by 7 and 3/4 lengths in the Queens Country Stakes. Brookdale Sales started off the November Sales strong, selling three 7 figure mares. At the Fasig-Tipton November Sale, multiple G1 Placed PAID UP SUBSCRIBER sold for $1,100,000 to White Birch Stable. Shortly after that, WHATDREAMSRMADEOF, the dam of multiple G1 Winner CURALINA sold for $1,650,000 to Summer Wind Equine.
Over at Keeneland, G1 Winner PAOLA QUEEN demanded everyone’s attention and was hammered down at the price of $1,700,000 to Tom Ryan’s SF Bloodstock.
This sale capped off a strong sales year for Brookdale, which grossed over $14 million in sales for 2016.

Ready for Rye (4,g, City Zip/Embroidery) closed down the stretch to finish 3rd in the Grade 3 Jaipur Invitational Stakes at Belmont on Saturday. In 14 career starts, Ready for Rye has now earned $586,760. He was bred in Kentucky by Soc. Agr. Santa Elena De Chimbarongo LTDA and was born and raised at Brookdale Farm. Ready for Rye was purchased by Chalk Racing at the 2013 Keeneland September Sale.
